Quinoa, how much I love thee!

Wow, two blogs in one week, and back to back on top of that haha!
Well here is anothr recipe from IowaGirlEats that I once again adapted into my own thing! It is Quinoa in a Honey Lemon Vinaigrette. Of course with kale, since I add it to about everything I eat!

Here's a photo of the ingredients! I forgot to put the honey in the photo haha.

3 cups of water and 1 1/2 cups of quinoa. You cook it until the germ seperates. About 10-15 minutes. Best if cover once brought to a boil

In a mason jar zest an entire lemon and squeeze the juice into the jar. 2 cloves of garlic minced well, 1/2 teaspoon of salt and 1/2 teaspoon of pepper, and 2 1/2 tablespoons of honey. Close it up, and shake it up!

Take two leaves of kale, chopped. three green onions, and three ears of corn in a skillet of 1 tablespoon of butter and a tablespoon of olive oil. Saute everything!

1 teaspoon of garlic powder, 1/2 teaspoon of ground cumin, 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon, pinch of sea salt, and 1/2 teaspoon of pepper. mix it up and add it to a skillet. I used these frozen shrimps because they were already peeled and deveined!

As the shrimp cooked, add in the quinoa and vinaigrette and stir it.

Afte the shrimp cooks through, add everything together!!

Delicious Recipe with Kale!!

So I loooove the blog iowagirleats, and my sister and I asked me to make her farfelle with kale and bacon recipe. Of course I said yes! Kale, bacon, sun dried tomatoes!! Yummm! I adapted the recipe to my liking of course! The burst of flavors this has it amazing!!

13.25oz of whole wheat penne pasta on the stove with a dash of seasalt. As that becomes al dente I chopped up 1 1/2 cups of kale! By the way, next time I'm definitely adding waaaay more kale! Wasnt enough!

7 strips of low sodium bacon, crisp them up good!

In total I ended up adding 1/2 a cup of these delish sun dried tomatoes!

I chopped them up a bit more!

1 zuchinni sliced up!

When the bacon are done, lay them on a paper towel lined plate to drain. Keep the bacon grease in the pan though because we'll use it!

When the pasta is just about ready, add in the kale for an extra 2 minutes!

Add in 7 minced garlic cloves, the sun dried tomatoes, 1/2 teaspoon of chili flakes, 1 teaspoon of chopped onion seasoning, and the zuchinni.

When you drain the pasta and kale, keep 1/3cup of the water. When you add the pasta (which I transfered to a wok), also add the water!

Crumbled up the bacon and add it to the wok!

I topped it off with fresh grated parmesan cheese!

Let me know how you like the reicipe! Adapt it to make it your own!!

The Makeup Show Chicago! (Day One)

Ok so this took me much longer then anticipated, I apoligize!

Sooo much happened! I got to meet many more people! I got tons of goodies! I easily spent 800 within an hour and a half, yikers!

Few pointers:
If you are smart look around first! Seriously! Korean and Elessa told me so and I didnt. I ended up getting Z Palettes at Alcone for 18 a piece (still a bargain), but they were at Naimies for 16, and at Nigel's for 15!! So SHOP AROUND!

Make sure your credit card company knows what's going on! I bought stuff from Stila, and my card got declined! It was because Chase thought someone from FL was using my card bc Stila came up at FL! But after that was all fixed, I was good to go! So embarassing though! I NEEDED my glitter liners and one step colour corrector!

Few things to check out:
Aqua liners and uplights from MUFE
Glitter Liners from Stila
Freedom Palette, gel liners, and lipsticks from INGLOT. I wish I got a few more lipsticks!
Z Palettes (FROM NIGEL'S)
Yaby pearl palette. Pricey but I wish I got it!
OCC Liptars, the new ones are a must! Yellow Iron Oxide, Red Iron Oxide, and Dangerous@ Also Anime, Beta, and Lo-Fi!

Hrm, if I think of more, which I'm sure I will I'll let you know!

What: The Makeup Show Chicago 2011
When: Sunday and Monday, June 12-13 2011Where: Venue One in Chicago, IL
Extra Day: Blogger Event on Saturday, June 12, 2011

What an amazing weekend it was! I have to keep this a bit short, because my daughter is about to wake up from her nap, I feel it haha! So only a few photos!

Saturday afternoon, my friend Namita drove in from Nebraska to spend the weekend with me and attend TMS! As soon as she got there, she freshened up, and we left to the Blogger event at Venue One. We arrived a bit late, but we got in just in time for James Vincent to talk about his favorite products at TMS. Let me tell you, this man is greatly talented! HE was sooo kind and put together a gift bag full of the goodies! We got tons of stuff from Ruby Kisses, OCC, Makeup Forever, Stila, and many other companies!

After the blogger event, Namita an I went out to dinner with Koren (enkoremakeup) and Elessa (pursebuzz) at Rockbottom! Yummy food, drinks, and dessert! It was a super fun night! And they found out that we weren't "ICE CREAM" LOL!!

Stay tuned for more!
Coming soon.. Day One at TMS!

What is TMS Chicago?

Well let me tell you haha! TMS stands for The Makeup Show! And I'm sooo super excited to be attending my first one! It's a pro-only trade show. Kind of like The Auto Show, but for makeup, but you can buy things haha! It's going to be Sunday, June 12th. And if you are a pro MUA, and want to attend, BUY YOUR TICKETS NOW! You only have a few days left to buy you tickets in advance! And you DO need proof of you trade! License, certificate, comp card, buisness card, etc.. I'm bringins all three of my certificates and buisness card JUST IN CASE!

I'm going to be attending with a few gals I meet at Glaminar and at O2B2, along with my friend Alexis R. She works for Benefit Cosmetics, and is amazing! I also get to meet up with Koren and Elessa from youtube, and the people behind the Out of the Beauty Box Tour.

So what will I be purchasing.. not sure yet. My BIGGEST purchase will be the Temptu Airbrushing system, hopefully they will be selling the starter kit with the S-one compressor! Either way I'm getting the starting essentials. And if thats all that I walk with, it's a huge bargain! But I also would like to pick up one of the new Inglot matte palettes. They are 137 dollars, not sure if I want the neutrals or brights?? I'm more of a brights gal, but neutrals are good for bridal looks... Another thing I want are a few OCC (Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics) lip tars, oh and don't forget the Nigel Lashes for a buck something! What else.. hrm.. Think thats' all... My limit is 800-900 dollars for the weekend. That dinner, drinks, transportation, and TMS goodies.

If you've been to one before and have any suggestions on what are must buys, let me know!

Oh and dont forget to check out my new video I uploaded onto YouTube!! It's using a drugstore palette, Maybelline EyeStudio in Irresistable Ivy!
